To some , when they talk about long range, they are speaking of shots that are at the 400 yard mark.
For others it is past that.
IMO a 1800 grain bullet of proper construction is quite fine out of a 300 mag at 500 yards, as long as the shooter is capable - THAT is the biggest variable in the whole danged equation.
