Check line diameter
When comparing different mono lines for strength, be sure to check the line diameter. On some manufactures you will find that there line diameter may be .001-.002 thousands thicker than other manufactures with the same lb test line, so of course the line will be stronger. I can't recall exactly now, but 8lb mono on most manufactures used to be about .009.This was a few years back, I am not sure if it still happens now, as I have not used mono line for about 5 years now. I do use flourocarbon (not vanish though) for tying rigs and leaders.
