Fall is great for Goldeye in September as they bunch up to migrate downstream for the winter. It’s funny how fishing in the NSR...there is a day when you go from catching lots of walleye to catching tons of goldeye. I always watched for mooneye but at the time I wasn’t fly fishing as much. Using jigs, spoons, spinners and pickeral rigs with shiners or worms it seems either most are goldeye or there were not as many Mooneye around.

Goldeye seem to get a lot bigger. Both mooneye and goldeye taste horrible. But pound for pound...I would fly fish for goldeyd or trout all day long. They use the current so well in the battle.

Had some crazy awesome spinner fishing for gold eye in Edmonton. Mepps with the black and gray bushy tail and silver spinner. Weighted or unweighted depending where I was fishing. They seem to be at a certain depth and love current edges.
