I'm not a chemist or line scientist, but I don't think Flurocarbon's features are its super strength. I can Barely snap 10 lbs with a hard tug, yet its smaller then 4lbs mono so its not over kill at all. I use 10lbs for dry fly leaders, thats how light it is.

Don't be afraid to use some 15-20 lbs where you would use a 8-10 lbs mono. Without a doubt theres no "need" for fluro, and its pretty pricey in comparison, yet for fly leaders you want low vis line. Jigging minnows in a "pea-soup" lake is not the place for Vanish. Pike will ignore wire leaders so fluro is a waste in most conditions.

I went fishing for Walter in the first week of June, and the water was so clear that the Vanish was well worth the double cost.
