I would suggest getting a pair of large dive fins that just slip over your waders (strap behind heel), no boots. I wear a pair of socks on the outside of the waders to decrease friction wear. I believe dive fins provide the best propulsion through the water when you are fighting a wind. I have a pair of slip-on beach shoes I wear from the truck to the water to protect my waders
