As one of those "purists"
You can buy pay for and train whatever you want. Your research can be based on suitability for purpose trainability or color. You will be happy with what you buy if you get what you researched so if silver is what you want go for it. dogs bred for color give you color, dogs bread for ability give you reasonably predictable traits. Your money your decision.
