The Vortex 1000 is the slowest range finder on the market. The deer will die of old age before you get a reading. The Vortex 1500 is suppose to be much faster, I spoke to Vortex and they stated the speed was the reason for the upgraded model. I attempted to use the 1000 for bow hunting and it is way too slow. I now have the Leupold RX-1000i TBR DNA and it is lighting fast and I have ranged animals out to 600 yards.
