You mean from previous times?
One would be miniaturizing and implementing catalytic converters on every vehicle.
Another would be the non-ozone depleting refrigerants that were developed.
As for CO2 innovations there are some currently in terms of carbon capture, but government intervention would push investment dollars into into innovation rather that maintaining the status quo.
