That's just the way it is. Its highly likely that there wouldn't be any lions left in Africa if it werent for these types of hunts. Poachers would wipe them out. Fenced is about the only way to preserve lions and many others species there.

I'm not 100% sure but there may be zero hunting of truly wild lions over there. Any not bred in captivity are in parks.
