lots of great places anywhere along that stretch of the FTR.
Peppers lake is a nice place to camp and fish. the lake is not bad for smaller brookies, but fishes best if you have a boat although there is lots of places to fish from shore. the campground does get pretty busy on weekends though as I think it only has around 20 or so sites. lots of real nice streams also to hit up in that area. Elk creek, Peppers creek to name a couple. Clearwater is right there also if it is not too high and muddy. father north is the South Ram and all it tribs that are good fishing also. the campground at the South Ram falls is a pretty decent place also and lots of options and streams to fish in that area also.

only ventured south of 743 on the FTR once. stayed at the James RIver campground. it was a nice campground. the James River was a bust though. lots of beautiful water and pools but no fish. but a lot of the other streams it that area are pretty good. don't overlook the small tribs. find an access spot like a cutline or such away from the more easy access spots and you will be rewarded with some good fishing.

good luck
Mike
