You're correct, LC. My father-in-law just got his RPAL renewed around the same time as I did the course and sent my app in. Only difference is, he already owned a handgun. He had to jump through some real hoops to get it all in order again. Proof of membership, transport permit, the whole bit. I didn't have to show a single document so in response to the OP: if you don't already own a handgun, just pop the application in the mail and off you go!
