Only difference I have “heard” about is some of the merc saltwater had a stainless cooling water tube and stories of an extra anode. There was also a case or two of the older design engine being branded with the salt water logo as carry over of parts from previous years. The general consensus is you don’t need a special sticker that says salt water, most brands don’t even have a salt water series.
