It is funded by the Alberta Prion Research Institute.
There are teams at the U of A and the U of C trying to learn the details of how these prions replicate and are transmitted.
Other folks are probably interested in plans for limiting the spread across all of western Canada.
Those sound like awful things to try and learn about....
