Great to hear he got his dog back. Guys do not under estimate a dogs ability to get home or back to truck. I once went in 3 directions putting out trapping boxes with my Springer. We were about 5 miles from cabin, she got tired, picked a new cutline and B-lined directly to cabin. No back tracking, I was impressed. Best thing you can do at pheasant site is lay lots of scent trail back to truck, stay late a dog that can find pheasants can follow your tracks to truck.
