They made some changes this year as to what can be challenged. Looks like Peters could have challenged the missed call if it had occurred in the Av's offensive zone.

Coaches were already permitted to challenge goals scored after the puck entered the zone offside or following interference with the goaltender.

Some missed calls go against you, some go for you. It probably evens out over the length of the season. Sucks when it's a goal in a close game.
