For all you know the OP is a lady who weighs 90 pds soaking wet.

Who cares if you shoot a hopped up 3006 with hot hand loads or a watered down 7 mm. the point is start LIGHT, with hearing, eye, and shoulder protection, off a very solid rest.

Then get good at shooting, and move up in caliber size.

If you ever train a dog for retrieving, to ensure the dog does not get gun shy, you start by clapping your hands over the dog's head while they are eating, not blasting 3.5 in 12 gauge Mag loads.

But anyways, the point is again lost. This isn't caliber debate, it is a learning to shoot debate, and shooter tolerance is the first step to marksmanship.
