Grouse for flies
I'm hunting for the first time this year and was wondering. What feathers should be taken from a grouse(wings, tail fan etc.) And what flies patterns are best suited for grouse feathers. Is it safe to assume that the feathers are similar to hen hackles? Also what is the best way to prepare and preserve the feathers and/or skin? I know theres lots of questions in there, super excited at the prospect of catching a trout on a fly from feathers I procured. Thanks everyone!
