I am not a 6.5 x 55 fan; but either is fine.
Either will perform on anything you want to harvest. I know the 270 ammo is sold everywhere you look should you ever be in a pinch.
As for a rifle, most modern guns shoot better than the shooter. It is a personal thing so make sure every time you take it, out it gives you pleasure on your decision.
