I have some powder aluminum parts on some of my bicycles that I purchased in the mid 90s, look great.

That said these parts don't experience impacts but a set of my cranks do get rubbed and the powder costing has just clouded and I think you could polish it out.

I am surprised by the post from Stickynuts I would suspect the stock wasn't prepped well.

I like powder coating but I am unsure of it on a firearm, as Chuck stated it is to thick and I could see it filling in writing and ridges.
But I could be wrong.
