Started with a 30-06
Then went to a 270 win
Kept both those rifles and went through 243, 300wm, 300wsm, 375H&H, 338wm, 45-70
Ive have got rid of everything but the 30-06, 270 and 45-70
I love the 45-70 for the elk rut hunt in deep cover.
Everything else my 270 usually gets the nod. I am confident with it out to 500 yards. Dead is dead and it has accounted for many deer, moose and elk from 5 - 480 yards.
The 30-06 stays with me out of pure nostalgia...but it is just as effective as the 270.
I killed animals with all the above magnums while I had them and never once felt like I had any advantage over my tried and true 270.
