Kill springs SHOULD have the trigger, otherwise you have just added a shock absorber to your snare.
You want the animal's lunge to hit a dead stop to set the snare, then the spring exerts its' lethal pull.
Without the trigger, you just have another Amberg-type spring, which I have found to be marginal at best.
