Was mentioned before but a nice used Ruger Blackhawk convertible is a nice first handgun. It can shoot 38 special and .357 Magnum as well as 9mm ammo.
I started off as others have stated with a nice S&W .22 Revolver. After 2 boxes of ammo I was bored and wanted something more. I kept the revolver and picked up a used Ruger Blackhawk and shot it for a few years until I started to acquire more as the kids got older and the money loosed up a bit.
Cast my own and my Dillon 550 has probably seen close to 1/2 million rounds reloaded with it by now.
I love having a 12.6 and I have a few toys that I use every time I hit the range, makes a nice big smile on my face and usually people begging to shoot the Luger which is no problem at all. Just hope we get to keep them but the way things are going every time I hit the range I treat it like it is the last time I can shoot my 12.6's.
