For what you want the 30-06 does it as good as any.
I love my 7x57, and my 7x64 basically 7mm08 and 280. But I dont worry about Bears where I hunt.
Uness your taking game past 450 I dont see the reason for the magnums.
Break it down to caliber, bullet weight and velocity. Then pick your cartridge.
But really any moderate 6.5, 7mm, 30 cal will work, and the animal will never know the difference.
