The no load in truck/quad is a Alberta Provincial Hunting Regulation. It was for safety, when excited road hunters might jump out with loaded rifles. Province just applied it to holstered handguns, which are obviously much safer with strap/holster. Do not think police run around with unloaded handguns in patrol cars.
Had good discussion with F &W at trappers meeting and he felt regulation should be changed for loaded handguns, especially on traplines
Basically a redundant provincial law trying to overrule a Federal ATC carry law..
