I'm not familiar with the Maverick but I totally disagree with that statement. I've seen lots of cheap o/u guns that are not reliable at all. There's nothing worse than going to the range for an afternoon of fun shooting and having your gun break down. I shoot a lot more than most people so I gravitate to better guns but even for occasional shooting I'd stay away from the el'cheapo's. Better to get a used one made by a reputable manufacturer.
