Some interesting preferences regarding decap operations. As previously mentioned, I decap with my sizing die during the resize operation. Prior to the FL reresize operation, I wipe any loose carbon off the neck and (sparingly) lube the case body (often I only lube every 3rd or 5th case). I typically clean the inside of the die about every 500 rounds but have never noticed any issue related to the inside of the die actually being dirty. I also clean out the shellholder periodically (maybe every 500-1000 rounds) which should be the area that could get contaminated with residue when the primer is removed. The shell holder does collect a bit of color in the lube that seems to collect on it, but I don’t recall an issue with any particles slipping into the rim channel...which could cause an issue. I guess the debris fall through the hole in the shellholder.
