How does gout come on? Do you immediately get intense pain and you know that you have it or can it come on and gradually get worse? The reason that I ask is that off and on for 2 or 3 years now I get a pain in the knuckle of my right big toe for no apparent reason. It’s not devastating or anything but it’s a sharp pain that I can’t ignore. Is that how it starts and progressively gets worse?
