There are "rimfire-specific" scopes with 50 yard parallax settings (Vortex, Leupold, Bushnell..probably others) but personally, for rimfires, I use scopes with adjustable objectives that can focus up close if/when req. I'd have no hesitation using a "Centerfire" scope either but again, I'd want it with AO or side focus provided the latter could work at distances less than 50 yards.

On the first 22 I ever owned, I did (unknowingly) use a "centerfire" 3-9X scope and realized (trial and error) that it just seemed to work better when dialed-down to 3X-4X. lol Looking back now, I think the parallax issues were just less noticeable at lower magnifications.

So yes, they CAN work...but really aren't the best tools for the job.
