Cold weather makes good fur. Less ticks and fleas and cleaner pelts. Coyotes and other carnivores move lots when gets really cold.
I was talking to an old FN elder and he said it was going to be a very cold winter. I asked him how he knew this. He replied ,"White man putting up lots of wood."
