Default January success

Helped my buddy and another hunter get 2 bulls at Suffield yesterday (one 4x4 and one 3x3). Not sure how many hunters showed up but it was a lot less than the first hunt I was at back in November. They give out 100 tags per hunt but I don't think all of them showed up on Monday. We were the last truck off the base yesterday and there was 26 bulls taken by registered hunters and 17 bulls and 15 cows by first nation hunters. Only two 6X6 bulls taken and the rest were rag horns and spikers. All the elk were shot in the N.E corner of the base. About half in the walk in area of the NWA and the rest in the general open area of the base. We seen about 100 cows and 6 bulls. Lots of people complain about this hunt but I have had nothing but great experiences and a lot of great tasting elk. Even on this last hunt of the year, the first day had around a 25% success rate. Still lots of elk to be shot, just gotta get out of the truck to get them.
