Now, I can get 2 turbos from amazon for $ 1000, dealer cost is $ $1667 each.

Should I buy from amazon and replace my self ?

I thought these things should last about 150,000 km ?

Hope you never have to replace your turbos.
I'd want to know what happened to cause both to fail.

I have a 2013 F150 and I've put something like 20,000 km's pulling my 24' trailer. Another 5,000 pulling my 18' hunting trailer and several thousand pulling my boat. My truck has just over 155,000 km's on it. Never had an issue with the turbo's....or anything else really.

Oh FYI, I've pulled the big trailer, with it loaded, up the Coquihala hwy and throughout central/southern BC, North Idaho and the Pacific Northwest so lots of big hills and mountains. So not easy "driving #1 from Calgary to Winterpeg" hauling either. That engine has had to do some work.

As to repair, if it's out of warranty and you're a decent mechanic and you're comfortable doing it, I'd say do it yourself. If not, get someone qualified and reputable, that way if something screws up after the fact, they pay to fix it.
