I have several 30 06 no 308. They are not really equivilent sure you can give a 308 a one in 10 twist but theres not really enough powder to use it. Our european betters at anschutz believe in the 30 06 its the only big game calibre they make on their site anyway. You could shoot a 7 mm bullet out of a 308 and it would almost be a 30 06 or you could tell yourself that anyway. Recoil is a drawback i admit.
