To each his own, but I can think of a couple times when ive needed to borrow something that was a once off, (specialty tool. Ect) so its not worth buying, and if you have a friend who already owns it...
I also have no problem lending my stuff, but if someone gives me a laundry list of items that he needs to borrow! And only the most expensive items? That's a red flag, and I'm going to tell him sorry...
