Back in 2015 I spotted a very nice bull elk on Sugarloaf in 402. While working my way up to the area I'd last spotted him, I heard a rifle shot. About 200 yds up to the meadow he'd been feeding on, he was down.
Two gentlemen in a blind hunting mule deer took him with, you guessed it, a 25-06. Wasn't their intention but had a tag. The bull didn't make it 10 yards after the 125 yard shot, which was perfectly placed.
Wouldn't be my first choice for elk, but I've seen it in action, and it works.
