My brother-in-law has been doing this for 20 years, and he has done well. He set up a couple people down there to assist with sales, paperwork etc. We have driven vehicles down south for him and he pays for the expenses, hotel and air fare home. He made it worth our while. Furthest south was Alabama.

It does work, and he has done well for himself.
