I built a 300WSM on a short action 950T with a 30" McPhee barrel years ago for long range shooting from 1,000 to 1 mile.
it was fantastic, but it was throated for a particular, custom made 220 grain bullet, and was a special purpose rifle, not a hunting rifle.
As far as comparing it to a 300mag or H&H, I tend to shoot single shots so action length would be a mute point, so I would probablly go with a 300Win Mag if I were to do another.
