The .308 will do 95% of all the jobs when hunting. Fact is most people rarely shoot much over 200 even in practice. It seems to me that when most people are zeroing their gun at 200 yards they do an inch and a half high at 100. if you were a long range shooterI which I would consider starting about 450 yards and more. If you are planning on hunting at those distances I think it’s time to step up to the 7 mag. The thing is it is more fun to practice with a lighter calibre and also cheaper therefore you will probably become more proficient with it.
