Inspected & weighed a good bunch of the pellets it came with today.
Very uniform, no blems and the weight was amazingly consistent.
Leaning towards the scope and / or it's mounts as you suggest.
Will pick up some other mounts and toss on a scope I have on hand.
Hoping that is it...
