Your comment about the dog nearly getting gutted reminded me that male rabbits can literally castrate one another! I never would have believed this but I had to 'finish the job' when two male rabbits were housed together and one had large lacerations on his scrotum and at least one testis hanging 'by a thread'. I don't recall the status of the other testis. So, your comment about the beaver seems entirely believeable.

I think they would fight to the goal of paralyzing the other is achieved if I recall correctly. They can be mean ornery little buggers.

Mudbug had a big one that I believe would put the run on a medium sized dog.
