So funny story....

I shot at one distance and smoked a hole through as you saw in the earlier pictures. Then I set it up at the second range and it stopped the bullet in the pan. Well that was kinda cool but considering I hit a ridge on the edge of the pan I thought I’d shoot the pan again...I’ll be darned if I didn’t hit the ridge again. Gonna be gone sat. So hope to get one more shot more centered on Sunday before I post the results. Here’s a couple pictures.
Kind of like hitting a rib when shooting a coyote . A friend has shot over 50 coyotes using Hornady 32 Z-Max bullets and 32 grain Sierra BK "s at about 3850. All have been pass trough's, leaving a bullet size exit when shot through the lungs at 190 yards. One shot quartering to and one quartering away at nearly 300 yards were pass trough's as well. The coyotes were all pretty much bang flops which leads me to believe that Hydrostatic or Hydraulic shock is coming into play. I always thought those exploding gophers were due to the bullets exploding but maybe not?.

Your experiment is really a good idea and look forward to the results. You will have to try to hit the pan closer to the center where there are no ribs.
