For years I ran a straight...I attached it to a skeletonized diy stock w all the hardware to attach to a tripod...loved it. Keeping the stock in the shoulder allowed me to spot just like using a scope on my rifle and aided in steadiness. Now I have an angled scope as well and find I grab it more than often when doing target work.often using my phone on the scope view......both have thier own advantage, don't think you'll go wrong either way.
