Having done a couple of .338-06 conversions I found the best route is to re-barrel with stainless. The difference in cost between a re-bore and re-barrel is less than $400.00 with the barrel materials and barrel contours built to your specs. There are some great barrels available right here in Alberta with turnaround times usually much less than a re-bore.
At .655 at the muzzle, you have enough diameter to do a nice .338 re-bore. Should you choose this option, Ron Smith (RKS) near Wimbourne, AB does a great job but it may take some time.

Good Choice on the cartridge.
