Re-barrel or rebore?
I have a Rem 700 CDL that's a 270 right now. I want to turn it into a 338-06. The rifle itself will be used for a 300 yard max distance shooter with 200 and less being more the normal on any giving day with the style of hunting it would be used for. Muzzle diameter is about .655" minus .338" dived in half leaves about .158" of material all the way around at 24" long. I want to re-use the CDL stock, so if it was to be a new barrel it would be close to a Remington contour. What route would you go, and if it was a rebore, can you guys recommend a gunsmith that will, and doesn't mind doing rebores?
