I can't go back to the 30-06 because I have never owned one. However, I can only wonder how popular the 30-06 would be if it hadn't been chosen as the issue cartridge for the US military for two world wars. The availability of surplus rifles and ammunition, was the largest factor in the 30-06 becoming so popular in the USA, just as it was for the 303 in Canada.
