I think the fall stocking is not often done in AB due to high risk for winter kill at some lakes. Plus more cost to feed the fish over the several months of summer when they could independently be getting fat in the lakes over summer. Also then additional stocking costs second go round.

I think a more reasonable option to extend the length of stocked fish in the lake would be to have variable limits throughout the province depending on the lake. Like in BC some trout lakes in the cities have a limit of 2 fish, while some with less access and less pressure have limits of 5. Some ponds are managed for larger fish and have limits of two as well.

Alberta is not great at managing fisheries though... kind of lazy about the whole individual lake rules and all their attention and resources goes to a fish... the Walleye, which we can't even keep most of the time anyways. I think it would be pretty easy to go through the list of stocked lakes and just put a two fish limit on all the high pressure, near town or in town lakes. That would help solve some of the problem of rapidly vanishing fish.

That was a great video by the way. High speed trout raceway.
