I didn't think too much about the current difference until this spring when i noticed the ice was completely free east side of edmonton and completely frozen over still on the west side. It'll be hard with all this damn rain atm but just having a goal and executing it should make the hunt that much more exciting for the ever elusive 50"er
Quite often the ice goes first in Edmonton and eastward is all the storm drains and water melt from the city that helps break up ice.
