Bright sun and light reflected from snow can be an issue, but diffusers don't solve this. Like I said earlier, the sky screens see the bullet or at least its shadow as it passes over them. We used a 1/4" sheet of plywood 2' by 4' to make a flat stable base to setup the tripod on snow. Kept the reflection down too. Never thought of using a tarp,should work good as long as you can get the tripod stable on it.
