I've been laying out a line for almost 70 years but never learned how to fish 2 flys or a nymph. With a $10 glass rod I bought from CTC, a silk DT line and a leader made up of about 5 short pieces I fished wet flys for years until I switched to better equipment and grasshoppers.

I'd appreciate any help and advice that you can give. THX
Get a real, real sharp knife and a magnifying glass. Split the mono or flouro leader with great precision. Tie one floating fly to the left side of the mono and the nymph on the right. The lighter fly will naturally float above the nymph. If the fish are deeper make the split longer....
