You know what the very best solution is? Find an actual good, trustworthy mechanic to build a bit of a relationship with.
It’s why I post a thread occasionally if I need mechanic work for recommendations… profit isn’t a dirty word but there are a lot of shops out there who either don’t have a clue or are really trying to compete with their dentist on who has the higher markup.
