What you described is exactly what we used to build in Manitoba for ice fishing. This is back 20 years ago....long before the days of flip-overs and ice-cubes! Best damn shacks that were out there! They were permanent and would last for years. Easily movable by one guy as long as they had a set of runners or wide skis on the bottom and a rope to either pull by hand or tow with the skidoo. They ususally sat a few icnes above the ice on the skis so all you had to do was drill your holes, slide into position and bank snow around the shack. You were in business in no time.

They worked really well and were always warm when that stove got fired up! Some of my best early fishing memories were in shacks like that. They are the perfect size for two guys and you still had room for gear.
